Danger Jones semi-permanent colour is a bold, flexible way to switch up your tone with vivid brights, soft pastels or high-impact panels. It sits on the hair rather than permanently altering your natural pigment, so you get strong colour with a fade-out you can plan around.

Who this is ideal for
This is a strong fit if you want noticeable colour without the long-term commitment of permanent dye.
- You want vivid fashion shades for a refresh, event or seasonal change
- You prefer colour that fades gradually rather than needing visible regrowth coverage
- You want controlled placement that works with curls, coils or textured patterns
- You like alternative looks but still need a polished finish for work
How the appointment works
Your colour is planned around your starting shade, previous colour history and the result you want.
- Consultation to agree the target shade, placement and expected fade
- Prep may be needed if you want maximum brightness (for example, pre-lightening on darker hair)
- Colour is applied in sections, then processed, rinsed and finished
- Styling is used to check how the tone reads in different light and through the hair
What happens after, maintenance and next steps
Semi-permanent colour is designed to fade, so maintenance is about keeping the tone clean and the hair in good condition.
- Use colour-safe, sulphate-free products and cool rinses where possible
- Heat protection helps reduce fade and keeps the finish glossy
- Book a refresh when the shade softens, or switch tones without a full colour removal
- If you are moving between very different shades, plan a phased approach to keep results predictable

I went to McCrory Hair today for a cut, colour and style and I was booked in with Kalaya – she was absolutely AMAZING! She made me feel so comfortable from the minute I walked in, offered me a drink and even asked if she could get me something to eat since I was there for a few hours. Not only is she such a lovely person, she is also an incredibly talented hairdresser. I’m honestly SO happy with my hair – thank you so much Kalaya! 🙌✨ All of the other staff at McCrory Hair were just as wonderful and welcoming. The whole experience was 10/10 and I’ll definitely be going back. Would recommend them to absolutely anyone. Such a talented and friendly team! 💖✂️

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does semi-permanent colour last?
Most semi-permanent shades fade gradually over several washes rather than growing out with a hard line. Longevity depends on your starting hair colour, porosity, and how often you wash and heat style. Vivid shades often hold better on pre-lightened hair.
Will vivid semi-permanent colour damage my hair?
Semi-permanent colour is generally gentler than permanent colour because it does not need to lift your natural pigment. Hair condition still matters, especially if you need pre-lightening to achieve very bright results. You will be guided on the safest route for your hair and texture.
Do I need to lighten my hair first for bright colours?
If your hair is naturally dark, very bright or pastel shades usually need a lighter base to show clearly. Some deeper tones can be applied without lightening, but they will read more subtle and may fade faster. A consultation helps set the right expectations before you commit.
Is this service suitable for curly, coily and Afro textured hair?
Yes. Placement and saturation are planned to complement your curl pattern, shrinkage and natural density. You will also get aftercare advice that supports moisture balance so curls stay defined and the colour stays cleaner for longer.
What should I do to keep the colour looking fresh at home?
Wash less often, use cool water, and choose colour-safe products to slow fading. Limit heat styling and always use a heat protectant. If the tone shifts as it fades, a refresh appointment can bring it back to your preferred shade.
